Walkthrough (Or... The Way I Play the Game)
Some OptionsWhen you first make your file, you are asked if you want to play as a boy or a girl. If you play as a boy you are eligible to marry one of the 10 marriageable female characters in the game. And if you are a girl, you can marry one of the 10 marriageable male bachelors. Of course when you play as a girl, you get to be pregnant resulting in getting tired more easily the month you are pregnant. Then you can choose the month you were born in. It does not matter which month you choose.
The Beginning
When you first start the game, the mayor of the town, Theodore, introduces your situation and asks for your name. If you really want to take the game seriously and have the main character have your name, name your character by your real name e.g. Mai. But if you're like me and like to have a central theme around your farm, name your character the main character of your favorite book, play, movie, place or something. For example, I named my (boy) character Ash Ketchum therefore I will name my ranch Pallet Town and my dog Pikachu. Name your farm accordingly.
After choosing your name, you will have to choose the area where you want to place your house. Here are the benefits:
Town: Your house is placed in the middle of the map and you have close access to anywhere. But if you choose this place, your property is very small and the plot of land that is next to your house does not have fertile soil. I personally like to choose this place because even though the watering hole is placed next to my house, I like to plant my crops to the left of the river next to Blue Sky Ranch where the land is fertile. When I get enough money, I buy that plot of land which is 5000 and relocate my watering hole to that plot of land for easier access when watering my crops.
Ocean: Sure this place is big but there are no benefits. The land is dry and if you plant there, your crops will grow slowly and will sell for less. It is very isolated. I use that plot of land for my barn and chicken coop later in the game because its perfect for planting trees and grass.
River: This is the next best option. If you don't on planting that many crops and you're fine with your house taking up space on the fertile land then choose this location. I usually plant up to 8 different crops when I first start so I personally don't like having my house there. It is relatively close to anywhere you need to go.
When you finish choosing you are taken to your house where you can arrange your furniture and then you have to go to sleep.
Then you have to watch this really long boring scene about how the Harvest Goddess turns to stone and then Jamie, your big rival, comes and blah blah blah. I don't really want to explain it because I've watched this scene a lot and if you watch it, you'll get the point.
To be continued...
